Gangadharaiah ,Dr (Smt)  M Rajeswari Assistant Commissioners’, KVS RO Bengaluru region, respected members of the Vidyalaya Management Committee, members of PTA distinguished guests, Ladies  &Gentlemen. Good evening to one and all.


I am enthused with joy and excitement to welcome you to this eventful day of the year. It is an honour to have you all amidst us to be a part of our school’s 50th Annual Day Celebrations, the day, where we not only mesmerise you with the cultural extravaganza but also, share with you our achievements and glory.


From the humble beginnings in the year 1964 as a one section school the school has now grown into one of the biggest KVs of the region with a staggering strength of 2700 students and staff of 102.The school that started off in makeshift army barracks has now grown in stature and has a sprawling campus with separate blocks for primary and secondary section.  We now have 3 state of the art computer labs with more than 100 computers, well equipped science laboratories, language lab and a library with more than 15000 books and magazines. To cater to the ever growing demands of students and parents the school has the unique distinction of being the only KV in the entire Bangalore region to have three sections of science stream and two sections of commerce stream.

I am glad to inform you that we could maintain our mark of excellence in our AISSE & AISSCE exam. Saurabh Sachan, Nikhil Singh Pundhir and       Ritabrata Roy of Class XII science emerged school toppers with an aggregate score of 95.6 % marks each in the AISSCE 2013.Sajin S came a close second with an aggregate score of 95.4%.NehaBakshi stood third with 91.4% marks.


In the commerce stream Neha Jadav of class XII commerce stood school first with an aggregate score of 92.6%.Gayatri Sisir scored 91.6 % and stood second. With 91 % Durga Bhavani was placed third.


They were awarded a cash prize of 5000 and a merit certificate by CBSE for being amongst the top .1% of candidates passing that subject at the senior school certificate examination.


The vidyalaya clocked a neat 100% in the AISSE 2013.


282 students appeared and 39 students got a CGPA of 10.


224 students appeared for AISSCE 2013 with an overall pass percentage of 95.54.

We are proud to inform you that 3 students from the batch of 2012-13 got selected to NIT Suratkal.120 students got admission into prestigious engineering colleges across the country.02 students are pursuing MBBS and 2 are studying for BDS.1 student got into NDA and 25 students are doing management courses.

Ø At the outset let me place on record the stellar performance of Twisha Karanam a 16 year old Class XI std student of this Vidyalaya with her steely grit and determination has catapulted herself into the highest bracket of excellence in Kayaking.


She won the BRONZE medal at the Asian Kayaking Championship held at Samarqand, Uzbekistan. This event was held from 26th Sept 2013 to 29th Sept 2013.


Ø Shikha Rajesh Gautam is a class X student of our Vidyalaya who has many trophies and achievements in Badminton at not just the national level but also at the International level. In the year 2013 she represented India in Badminton at the Asian Youth Games.


Ø Sooraj .S of class XI represented Karnataka in the Taekwondo Junior Open National.


Ø M Manoj Kumar of Class VII represented Karnataka in the Kayaking Sub Junior boys under 13 open National.


Ø Karthika of Class X C has won a Bronze medal in Speed Walking at the KVS National Sports meet.


Ø Three students of this vidyalaya ,Joshita , DhirendraPratap Singh and Birendra Pratap Singh of Class X will represent KVS at the School Games Federation of India {SGFI}2013 in athletics.Surendran of class XII has been selected for Hockey under 19 at the SGFI level.


Ø 21 students represented the Bengaluru region at the KVS Nationals held at Chennai & Chandigarh for boys and Delhi, Guwahati for girls.


Besides our students did us proud with their sterling performance atthe KVS Regional Sports meet 2013.


·        Our school boys and girls were adjudged overall champions in Athletics 2013.

·        The under 19 boys won gold medal in Basketball.

·        In Boxing under 17 and under 19 boys won 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal.

·        We bagged 2 gold medals and a silver medal in Taekwondo in under 14, under 17and under 19 categories.

·        In Badminton and in swimming our students won 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal respectively.

·        Tushar Bheeshm of class V bagged a Bronze medal at the National Taekwondo competition.

·        Shakynah of class IV won a Gold medal in 200 mtrs butterfly and a Bronze medal in 200 mtrs backstroke at KVS Regional Swimming championship held at Mangalore.




 Coming to achievements in Scouts and Guides:


Ø 3Scouts Prayag ,Atul Pratap Singh,Tarun Kartik and 2 Guides Haripriya and Arunima have attended the Rashtrapati Award testing camp this year.

Ø Atul Pratap Singh of class XI represented the Vidyalaya at the National Integration camp held at Hyderabad.

Ø RohitKashyap of class X and Asha of Class VIII attended the KVS state rally held at KV Gomatinagar ,Lucknow as part of the golden jubilee celebration of KVS.

Ø 5 Guides and 4 Scouts qualified for the Rajya Puraskar.

Ø 4 Scouts and 6 Guides qualified in the Pre-Rajyapuraskar Testing Camp.

Ø 25 Scouts and 18 Guides qualified the Tritiya Sopan.

With the aim of developing Character, Comradeship, Discipline, Leadership and a Secular outlook the school resumed NCC last year with 40 cadets .36 cadets qualified the ‘B’ certificate exam from 30 KAR INF BN NCC.


Ø 10 cadets participated in the firing competition at [Para regimental training centre] PRTC Bengaluru.

Ø 8 NCC cadets attended the THAL Sainik camp {TSC} at Doddaballapur.SUO Rajesh was detailed camp senior and Battalion senior at the camp.

Ø  [Senior under officer]SUO Anita, [Junior under officer] JUO Monika and [Company Quarter Master] CQMS G Shankar are presently attending the National Integration Camp at Silchar.


Co-curricular activities are an integral part of Kendriya Vidyalaya, MEG & Centre. As always, this year was filled with lot of activities and celebrations, which have showcased the hidden talent of our students and the overwhelming support of our parents and teachers. Our commitment has been to ensure the overall holistic development of our students, thereby in addition to all our efforts to impart the best education; we also provide equal importance to extra-curricular activities like sports, physical education, self-development etc.Students took part in many inter house competitions like declamation ,elocution , group dance ,group song ,recitation, drawing & painting, flower arrangement etc.  All the school activities updates and photographs are shared in our


Ø Sunetra of class X has been awarded Rs 5000/- under the Inspire Award scheme conducted by the Department of science & technology, Govt of India.

Ø 2 students qualified for the II level of resonance 2013, a national level Talent test for students of classes V-XII.

Ø A team of 5 students Aniket,Kevin,Rahul, Tarun and Sachin of Class XI have been selected for a project under TEENOVATORS 2013,an inter school competition organized by Manipal university.

Ø Bhavyashree ,Sunetra ,Amulya ,Shankar and Anisha of Class X have qualified for the II round of  Scientific Aptitude test conducted by WIPRO.

Ø Anivesh B R of class III bagged the first prize in a classical music competition at the state level.

Ø Amit of class V won II prize at a State level Karate competition.

Ø In the KVS cluster level social science exhibition the group dance was adjudged I and selected for the regional level.

Ø 1 project and 4 exhibits were selected for the Regional level social science exhibition.

Ø Eight of our students participated in the Regional level of the National Science congress held at KV DRDO.

Ø 5 students represented the Vidyalaya at the KVS Regional Science exhibition at KV NAL.

Ø 87children from the primary actively participated in the Cluster level Cultural Baldiwas competition and stood III at the cluster level by bagging 56 prizes in different group and individual events.

Ø More than 300 grandparents attended the Grand Parents day celebrations organized by the school as part of Baldiwas. Many saplings were planted on this occasion.

Ø In the Cluster level Mini sports meet conducted at the KV MEG stadium our students bagged the first position in March past.525 students from five different vidyalayas of the cluster participated in this meet for which our school was the venue.

Ø  More than 100 students from primary and secondary presented a group song and group dance at JC Kalakshetra, HAL Convention Centre, Bengaluru as part of the KVS Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Ø Yoga as a discipline is a part and parcel of students’ daily routine at KV MEG & Centre. 50 students presented a 40 min Yoga display at JC Kalakshetra, HAL Convention Centre, Bengaluru as part of the KVS Golden Jubilee celebrations.


Teacher training is an integral part of KVS.KV MEG & Centre played host to various in house training programs like the NAEP-Nodal youth workshop, Computer training for sub staff, Workshop on accounting for UDC’s, PGT Mathematics Workshop etc.


Besides these the school was also venue to the Cluster and regional level Sports meet and mini sports meet, Regional advisory board meeting ,cluster level social science exhibition, Bharat Scouts & Guides ,Sports control board meeting, KVS State divisional rally etc.


Guidance and counsellingactivities got a new impetus with the appointment of an educational counsellor in our school. Class X students appeared for the Global aptitude test conducted by CBSE.Career talks on Defence services, engineering, and hospitality industry were conducted as   part of career counselling.Students are also individually counselled for career, academic, emotional and behavioural issues.


The school offers German as third language to students of classes V–VIII.139 students arepresently enrolled for German language. Many interactive sessions and workshops are being conducted by the Goethe institute, Bangalore giving students a wonderful platform to interact with other students learning German language. Recently our students attended the ‘Impro Theatre’ workshop where they had fun learning through different games. His Excellency Michael Steiner, German Ambassador to India, German Embassy New Delhi appreciated this initiative of the school during his recent visit to the Vidyalaya. He was accompanied by Honourable Hans-Günter Loffler, Acting Consul General, German Consulate General, Bangalore,Respected Mrs Andrea Schäfer, Head of Language Department, Goethe-Institute, Bangalore, SriIsampal Deputy Commissioner KVS RO B’lore.Mr.K L Nagaraju and Dr{Mrs} M Rajeswari, Assistant Commissioners KVS RO B’lore region were also present on the occasion.


We also had the proud privilege of host many KVS officials in the year 2013-14.Mr.G.K Shrivastava Additional Commissioner, Administration, Sri Isampal, Deputy Commissioner KVS RO B’ lore region and other higher officials from KVS.


I would also like to place on record my appreciation and thanks to the retired staff Mrs Vyjayanthi Nath,TGT Hindi who retired after an illustrious service of 32 years in KVS and Mrs G Indira ,Music Teacher who took voluntary retirement after a long innings of 23 years.


As we continue our journey further into the 21st Century, we are conscious and committed to our role as agents of social transformation for sustainable development.


In all our efforts, we have always been ably guided by the illustrious Brig.M N Devaya, Commandant MEG & Centre and Chairman VMC. I take this opportunity to thank him for his dynamic vision that inspires us to “Better & Better” our performance continuously. Let me take this opportunity to thank Madam Kaveri Devaya for her benign presence.


I would also like to place on record my sincere gratitude to Sri Isampal ,Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner, KVS RO Bengaluru. His farsightedness, unsurpassed knowledge and willing cooperation in all our ventures motivate us to scale yet greater heights of excellence.


Let me also thank Mr.K L Nagaraju, Mr.Gangadharaiah and Dr (Mrs) M Rajeswari, Assistant Commissioners, KVS RO Bengaluru for their constant support and encouragement.


The members of Vidyalaya Managing Committee, Alumni Association and Parent Teacher Association have always extended their assistance in enriching the learning experiences of KV MEG, over the years. I thank you for your unstinted support.


I thank all the parents, members of staff, coaches and the students for their wholehearted cooperation and sincere efforts in making all the activities of the School very successful.


Before concluding, I’d like to emphasize yet again that it is onlythrough collaborative effort that we can hope to create an educateddynamic modern India – where all men and women enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
